CHRISTUS Hospital—St. Elizabeth and St. Mary has received multiple national and local awards honoring it as the best in a variety of healthcare specialties.
Cancer
The CHRISTUS Mamie McFaddin-Ward Cancer Center on the St. Elizabeth campus in Beaumont is one of only 18 facilities in Jefferson County that is accredited by the American College of Surgeons as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program.
Cardiology
- CHRISTUS—St. Elizabeth was the recipient of the Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award™ in 2007 from HealthGrades™, an independent health care quality ratings service. Hospitals who received this honor were in the top tier in the cardiac surgery services ratings.
- CHRISTUS Hospital—St. Elizabeth is the only hospital in the region that is recognized by the AHA as a Get with the Guidelines-Coronary Artery Disease (GWTG–CAD) hospital. In addition, the hospital has received the AHA’s Bronze Performance Achievement Award. Learn more.
- CHRISTUS Hospital—St. Elizabeth and St. Mary received the Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award and is recognized for a commitment to improving the quality of medical care related to acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart failure, and pneumonia. These clinical areas have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission, the nation’s predominant independent, non-profit, standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. This award is sponsored by TMF Health Quality Institute in partnership with Texas Hospital Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals, and Texas Osteopathic Medical Association.
Diabetes
CHRISTUS Hospital—St. Elizabeth and St. Mary Diabetes Lifestyle Program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association and is the only program in the area that is accredited by the Joint Commission as a Disease Specific Care Certified Program.
Maternity Care
- CHRISTUS Hospital—St. Elizabeth received the 2007/2008 Maternity Care Specialty Excellence Award from HealthGrades™, an independent health care quality ratings service. Hospitals who received this honor were in the top tier in the maternity care services ratings.

Nursing Excellence
- CHRISTUS Hospital—St. Elizabeth and St. Mary are one-of-only three-percent of hospitals in the country to be a recipient ofthe Magnet Recognition Program® from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). ANCC established the award program to recognize health care organizations that provide nursing excellence and also provides a forum with which to share best practices in nursing. Organ Donation
In October 2007, CHRISTUS Hospital—St. Elizabeth received the US Department of Health and Human Services Medal of Honor. The award was presented to the hospital for participation in National Organ Donation Collaborative. Only 10 hospitals received this award in 2007. Learn more.
